History

In 1971, National Apprentice Board (NAB) was established to co-ordinate and regulate enterprise based apprenticeships.

With the assistance of the United Nations Development Programe and International Labor Organization, NAB acquired and developed the following competencies related to apprenticeship training.

? Training Monitoring & Progress Instruction

? Distance Education

? Preparation and delivery of related instruction

? Trade Testing and Certification

? Curriculum Development

In 1981 NAB established the Apprenticeship Training Institute with the assistance of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 1984 Technical Training Institute was established with the assistance of UNDP & ILO.

In 1989 Automobile Engineering Training Institute was established with the assistance of JAPAN.

In 1990 the National Apprentice & Industrial Training Authority was established with a wider mandate as the successor to NAB, under the TVE Act. No. 20 of 1990.

To become the most efficient training providing organization effectively contributing to achieve prosperity in Sri Lanka through Human Resource Development.

OUR MISSION

Providing vocational and Technical Training for youth, to acquire employable skills through well formulated skills programs with highest professional Standards to meet the skilled manpower requirement in the industry.

OUR OBJECTIVES

​🪶 ​Planning, organizing and providing vocational training.
​🪶 Specifying standards in relation to vocational training.
​🪶 Conducting of examinations and issuing of certificates and other awards in relation to vocational training.
​🪶 Conducting National Trade Tests.
​🪶 Preparation and delivery of related instruction.
​🪶 Conducting research and development in vocational training.
​🪶 Holding of competitions to promote the development of various skills.
​🪶 Developing the training capacities of establishments and other institutions providing vocational training.
​🪶 Advising the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission in regard to vocational training.

Forming links with institutions in Sri Lanka and abroad having similar objects and to equating and or Validating Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees in allied subjects and courses.

We NAITA, is a number one eminent state body having capacity of providing industry acceptable technical and vocational training for youths with different abilities through the island wide industrial and institutional based training providing system with fully fledged up dated training facilities and techniques.

 

As a team of NAITA, we are striving to meet the goals of government of Sri Lanka by providing competent and confident professional workforce to meet the industrial requirement and standards with the utilization of minimal physical and competent human resources towards the journey of becoming a national icon in the field of technical and vocational training.

 

We are committed to comply with applicable national/international legal and other requirements, to initiate innovation towards the betterment and sustainability of the various industries and to continually improve the effectiveness of our quality management system.
